Club members that there has been false advertisement of her kennel breeding the American Lo-sze Pugg (tm) dog. This breed is not bred outside of the U.S and no other breeders beyond the ones stated above are licensed to do so. Please be careful when looking for your new baby. Thank you -Rebecca Manns |
American Lo-Sze Facts |
There is some confusion with the .......... Am-Pug / American Pugg / Bugs ---- This is an out cross of the Pug to the Boston Terrier. The true ALP has no Boston Terrier blood. There is a registry for the Am-Pug. Bullenese ---This has no pug in it at all it is derived from the French Bulldog and the Peke. A true ALP has no bulldog blood. Puglies ---This type is still under investigation. I am not sure as to what it is. It could be a mix of some kind or a fancy name for some cross of pug type dogs. I have not found a registry for these as of yet. *Anyone with info on these please email me. Peke -a- Pugs ---These are a cross of the Pug and the Pekingese, this cross is an F1 cross and do not breed true. Although the Lo-Sze dose posses some Pekingese blood there is more to it than that. Pug --- Allthough the American Lo-Sze can in some cases resemble a regular pug, it is not. The pug has and dose have an important part in the American Lo-Sze's development. Like the Origional Lo-sze from China had a hand in the development of the Pug, the Pug has a hand in the development of the American Lo-Sze. |
!! Buyer Beware !! |
For your Information........ Lo-Sze Puggs are line bred to a set standard, Many of our pedigrees are several generations deep. We do not continuously cross breed as many would lead you to think, But the stud books are still open due to the lack of breeders and quality breedable dogs. The outbreeding process is done very carefully. Any out crosses done that are of exceptional quality are then bred back into the Lo-Sze gene pool. A very large number of the out crosses look the same as the lo-sze to lo-sze crosses due to the strong genes of the Lo-sze. Occasionally we will get what is called a plush puppy, these are very cute and make great companions and pets. Line breeding and inbreeding is responsible for setting enough of the dominant traits that the resulting group breeds true to type. At which point a population of dogs can be said to be a breed. Line breeding and Inbreeding significantly increases homogeneity, and therefore uniformity within a litter. One of the best methods of evaluating how successful a line breeding has been is to gauge the similarity of the littermates as compared with pups of other litters with similar pedigrees. Considerable similarity among littermates tells the breeder the genes have "nicked" or paired together as anticipated. The resulting pups will likely be able to pass these genes to the next generation. When an undesirable trait is "unmasked" the breeder who does his breed a real service is the one that stays with his line long enough to rid it of the undesirable trait. By controlling which specimens within their line are used for breeding in succeeding generations they can eliminate the undesirable trait. Once the recessive gene is removed it can never again affect the breeder's line. Inbreeding doesn't cause good genes to mutate into bad genes, it merely increases the likelihood that they will be displayed. |
So What is a Breed?........... Webster's Desk Dictionary of the English Language defines a breed as "a homogeneous grouping of animals within a species, developed by humans," and the Oxford English Dictionary says a breed is "a line of descendants perpetuating particular hereditary qualities." |
